Glass Sector Representatives Gave Important Messages
The Glass Sector Meeting, one of the most important gatherings in Turkey's glass industry, was held in Ankara on 29 January 2025. Approximately 80 people from 33 companies participated in the event, where the current situation of the sector, the risks faced by the sector and strategies for the future were discussed.

The opening speech of the meeting was delivered by Tansu Kumru, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of ÇCSİB. Kumru stated that the protection of domestic producers plays a critical role in achieving the export targets in the sector and drew attention to the risk of countries such as China, Malaysia and Vietnam turning towards Turkey and the European market. He emphasised that measures such as anti-dumping measures, additional taxes and increased surveillance fees should be taken in order to eliminate this situation.

In his speech, Mehmet Ali Kılıçkaya, General Director of Export of the Ministry of Trade, stated that they are working on policies that will strengthen the export potential of the sector.

At the meeting, Tansu Kumru, Vice President of ÇCSİB, discussed the position of the sector in foreign trade in his presentation titled ‘Turkey's Glass Sector Foreign Trade’. Prof. Dr. Erhan Aslanoğlu, Lecturer at the Economics Department of Istanbul Bilgi University, evaluated the possible effects of economic developments on the sector in his presentation titled ‘World and Turkish Economy 2025 Predictions and Their Effects on the Glass Sector’.
